Meet the Midwife

 Emily Myers, CPM, EOC

Founder of Crowned With Good Midwifery Care

Hello, and welcome! I’m Emily Myers, a Certified Professional Midwife with over 17 years of experience walking alongside women through one of life’s most sacred journeys—childbirth.

My calling into midwifery began with attending my siblings births at home.

For several years I built a thriving practice serving women in the comfort of their own homes. I later took a step back, doing very few births, to focus on raising my own children and, in recent years, have joyfully returned to attending more births through Crowned With Good Midwifery Care.

I’ve been blessed to have seven home water births myself, and those beautiful experiences deepened my passion to help other women birth in a way that is natural, safe, and empowering.

Whether you're hoping for a peaceful home birth or walking the road of infertility, my heart is to serve you with both skill and compassion. In addition to midwifery, I offer virtual fertility support for women who are longing to conceive.

If you're expecting and desire a home birth that is:

 • Healthy

 • Natural

 • Safe

 • Low-intervention

…and you live in Southwest Missouri, Southeast Kansas or Northeast Oklahoma, I’d love to connect with you. My midwife partner and I see clients for prenatal visits at our cozy prenatal house in Joplin, Missouri. Because I accept only a limited number of clients each month, I encourage you to reach out soon to schedule a free consultation.

If you’re walking through infertility, please know—you are not alone. I’ve walked that road too. I understand the heartache, and I’m here to support you with both knowledge and heartfelt care. My prayer is that you will experience the joy of holding your long-awaited baby in your arms.

I look forward to supporting you—whether in your dream of a baby or in bringing your baby into the world.

Sincerely,

 Emily Myers, CPM, EOC

Is a Home Birth right for you?

One of the main reasons people have traditionally chosen to give birth in hospitals—or haven’t questioned it—is the belief that hospitals are inherently safer. And for a time, that was true. However, today’s mothers are generally healthier, receive more comprehensive prenatal care, and benefit from higher living standards. On top of that, advancements in medical technology have transformed maternity care.

All of these factors have contributed to making planned home births just as safe—if not safer—for healthy women as hospital births. This has been consistently demonstrated by numerous studies conducted worldwide. More

Debunking myths and misinformation about Birth at Home and Midwives who attend them

When families begin exploring the option of home birth, they often encounter a flood of opinions—and unfortunately, plenty of misinformation. As a midwife, I’ve heard many of the same myths repeated over the years, and I’ve seen how those false ideas can create fear or hesitation around what can be a safe and beautiful way to welcome a baby.

Let’s take a closer look at some of these common myths—and the truth that sets the record straight.

If you’re exploring your birth options, you’ve likely heard about water birth—a gentle, empowering option that more and more families are choosing. Laboring and birthing in warm water can support your body’s natural rhythms and create a calm, confident experience for both you and your baby.

With a range of physical and emotional benefits backed by research, water birth is worth considering for many expecting families. Let’s explore why.
